VOICE OVER FRAME RELAY (VoFR)

During the years of 1996 to 1998, the Frame Relay Forum added new features to Frame Relay, principally to support real-time traffic, such as voice. The following discussion provides a synopsis of these operations, and describes the three functions: (a) PVC fragmentation, (b) Service Multiplexing and (c) voice over Frame Relay (VoFR). We begin this discussion with an analysis of PVC fragmentation.
