TAKING ADVANTAGE OF SS7 CAPABILITIES

The idea of IPS7 is to transport SS7 messages over IP and at the same time, take advantage of the SS7 protocols MTP and SCCP. The transport of SS7 messages can operate over TCP or UDP. The SS7 messages include ISUP or SCCP or only TCAP. The SS7 or Internet engineer might question why a dual stack of SS7/IP is desirable. I cite [MCGR98] directly to support the rationale for the SS7/IP dual stack.
