Appendix B. ISDN and SS7
During the past thirty years, the telephone system has been migrating to digital, message-based signaling. Two technologies have lead the way: (a) the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) and (b) Signaling System Number 7 (SS7).
This appendix provides tutorials on these two technologies. There is also ISDN information in Chapter 5 (see Figure 5-5).
