Let us return to the subject of the telephone facility. Figure A-3 depicts several aspects of the subscriber loop. As shown in Figure A-3(a), the system consists of feeder plant, distribution plant, and the feeder-distribution interface. The feeder plant consists of the large number of physical wires and digital repeaters. Usually, they are located based on geographical constraints and the customer locations. They often run parallel to roads and highways.
