Some 40 years ago, as I was preparing to go to bed, a thought occurred to me while I was reading a magazine. I didn’t want to get up and write it down, but the thought wouldn’t leave. So I was forced to get up, find a pen, and write it down, which I did in the margin of the magazine. The thought was this:
