Understanding the virtual network creation process

Before we move on to discuss in detail network troubleshooting commands, we should have a basic understanding of how virtual networks are created in vSphere. This can be done by the following:

  • Configure your uplink adapters
  • Add port groups to the virtual switch
  • Associate VLAN with the virtual switch, if any
  • Configure VMkernel interfaces
