vCenter Server licensing
In the VMware vSphere environment, the licensing is managed through vCenter Server. All licensing is encapsulated in 25-character license keys that can be managed and monitored from vCenter Server.
License information can be viewed by product, licensed key, or asset:
- Product: A license to use a vSphere software component or a particular feature
- License Key: The serial number that is related to a particular product
- Asset: The machine on which the product is installed
