This chapter first introduces the basics of resource management and how to use the related managed object ResourcePool to effectively manage the resources with shares, reservations, limits, and affinity/anti-affinity rules.

The second part shows you how to create, configure, and manage the advanced Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) and High Availability (HA) clusters. It provides the basic concepts of VMware clustering, and then it moves on to the ComputeResource and its subtype ClusterComputeResource managed objects. It covers how to achieve various management tasks via these two managed objects.
