How it works...

NSX Manager audit and system logs can be forwarded to a syslog server by configuring the syslog settings from the NSX Manager UI. NSX Manager supports TCP, UDP, TCP6, and UDP6.

Multiple syslog servers for the NSX Manager are supported from NSX version 6.4 onward.

The NSX Manager CLI can view three types of logs, which are also available as part of the tech support log bundle:

  • Manager log: /logs/management_service/vsm.log
  • System log: /logs/system/messages
  • Appmgmt log: /logs/appliance_mgmt/vsmvam.log

The audit log can also be viewed by navigating to vSphere Web Client | Networking & Security Plugin.
