Verifying the Learnt IP address

There are multiple ways to verify the IP address that is learnt by NSX:

  • Via NSX Manager by logging in to the NSX Manager console. Use the show vm <vm ID> to get the virtual NIC filter name and use show dfw host <host ID> filter < filter name> addrsets to show the discovered VM IP as well as the IP detection.
  • Via ESXi host console. Do a summarize-dvfilter to get the filter name and use vsipioctl getdiscovered -f <filter name>.
  • Via SpoofGuard. Log in to the vSphere web client and navigate to Networking & Security | SpoofGuard. Select the Default Policy and in the bottom pane, the Detected IP column should show the learned IP Address and Source of IP learning such as VMTOOLS or ARP.
