Backup frequency should be set according to the rate of NSX configuration changes in the environment.

As per the NSX-v operations guide, taking a system backup is recommended in the following situations:

  • After an NSX or vCenter upgrade
  • During or after day zero deployment and configuration of NSX components, such as deployment of NSX controllers, NSX logical switches, NSX logical routing, NSX edge services gateway, NSX DFW, or service composer security policies
  • Infrastructure changes
  • Any major day-2 changes
It is important to synchronize NSX component backups with other backup schedules that interact with NSX such as the vCenter server, cloud management platform(s), or other operational systems. ...
