When configuring a DHCP server on the NSX ESG, it is important to note the following parameters:
- DHCP discovery messages are only listened to on internal interfaces and not on uplink interfaces
- Static IP address bindings should not overlap any pools you have already created
- Static bindings can use either VM NIC binding for virtual machines that reside in vCenter or MAC binding
- The Host Name field for all static bindings should conform to the following standards:
- Valid local hostname (label) contains only ASCII alphabet, numbers, and hyphens, with length at most 63
- Valid FQDN hostname has labels concatenated with dots, with each label length at most 63 and total FQDN length at most 253
