How it works...

Once the hardware binding is configured, the NSX controller will push the configured binding between logical switch and physical switch/port/VLAN to the hardware gateway via HSC. The NSX controller will advertise to the HSC the list of ESXi VTEPs relevant to the logical switches configured and the association between the MAC address of the VMs in the virtual network and the VTEP through which they can be reached.

Depending on the hardware vendor implementation, additional configuration may be required after configuring hardware binding to the logical switch. For example, adding the bridged VLAN ID to one or more physical ports needs to be done manually for a specific vendors, but other vendors can perform these configurations ...
