Virtual desktops
There are three types of virtual desktops in a Horizon View environment, which are as follows:
- Linked clone desktops
- Stateful desktops
- Stateless desktops
Linked clone desktops
Virtual desktops that are created by View Composer using the linked clone technology present special challenges with backup and restoration. In many cases, a linked clone desktop will also be considered as a stateless desktop. The dynamic nature of a linked clone desktop and the underlying structure of the virtual machine itself means the linked clone desktops are not a good candidate for backup and restoration.
