Acknowledgments

To start with, I have to thank my (now, at the time of publishing) wife, Emily Elert, who spent many a weekend fixing me lunches and taking care of the chores so that I could work on the book. The book is, of course, dedicated to her, but that’s not quite enough. She deserves a prime spot in these acknowledgments as well. The thing is, I didn’t fully appreciate going into the project how much of our leisure time together it would gobble up, but she did, and instead of treating me with all the bitterness she was entitled to, she was incredibly patient and supportive. And she even agreed to marry me along the way, which does not cease to amaze me one bit.
