Looks like you have to go to the big city to find someone willing to make old-fashioned medical house calls. A service called Sickday provides prompt medical attention in the comfort of your home, office, or hotel in New York City.

Why It Works

The Sickday brand, created by YYES, a Los Angeles design studio, is based on an image of a heart made from a folded Band-Aid. This strikes a nice balance between professionalism of health care and a feeling of compassion. Sickday founder Naomi Friedman says that YYES delivered the perfect sentiment for their brand and incorporated not only what they needed at launch, but every element they foresaw in their future. “They listened to us the way we listen to patients,” Friedman says.

Since follow-through is so critical in successful medical care, Sickday checks back with each patient after every visit. Get Well cards were designed so that the Sickday physician associates may leave notes and instructions. “We use the Get Well cards daily and we provide the cell phone number of practitioners to create ongoing access and availability during the course of illness,” adds Friedman.
