Businessweek published an updated look at the United States’ accredited-investor population written by Scott Shane, the A. Malachi Mixon III Professor of Entrepreneurial Studies at Case Western Reserve University. It revealed there are “5 million to 7.2 million American adults who were accredited investors in 2008.” Beyond the United States, there are millions more high-net-worth and institutional investors who are capable and willing to allocate to hedge funds and other alternative investments.
