Volume Interaction

Abstract

In this chapter, we describe techniques to interactively explore volume data. Exploration in this context refers to the specification of which portions of the data should be visible and how they should be displayed. The techniques we describe are used to modify the brightness, contrast and opacity of voxels, and thus the contrast between different materials. Transfer functions, clipping planes, and more advanced virtual resection techniques are amongst these techniques.
