Single Document Interface versus Multiple Document Interface

Your Windows application can have one of two main styles—a single document interface (SDI) or a multi-document interface (MDI). An SDI application has one main window as part of the application. An MDI application has a main window that can contain multiple child windows. Figure 21.2 shows an SDI application next to an MDI application to illustrate the visual differences.
