You have learned of the fundamental language features of Visual Basic .NET and you have also seen a very brief history of the evolution of the programming languages.

In the next chapter you will start the study of the fundamental Visual Basic data types and the operators associated with them. You will also write a few simple examples using the data types that you will learn.
