Introducing the Universal Windows Platform
Windows 10 is basically available in two versions: one for desktop PCs, and one for devices. You will often hear references to Windows 10 for desktop and Windows 10 for mobile. From a technical point of view, Windows 10 converges desktop and mobile versions of the same operating system; in fact, there is a guaranteed core APIs layer across devices. This common core is known as the Universal Windows Platform (UWP). This core includes a number of ready-to-use APIs that enable developers to build apps that automatically adapt to the device they run on, making it easier to create consistent and flexible experiences.
