Assignment Operators
You can use the operators shown in the preceding section for incremental operations. Consider the following code:
Dim value As Double = 1value += 1 'Same as value = value + 1value -= 1 'Same as value = value - 1value *= 2 'Same as value = value * 2value /= 2 'Same as value = value / 2value ^= 2 'Same as value = value ^ 2Dim test As String = "This is"test &= " a string" 'same as test = test & " a string"
You can abbreviate your code by using this particular form when performing operations or concatenations. Also note that that += assignment operator works on strings as well.
