Conclusions

‘The library is a coordination of teaching and learning services for a particular community’ (Hughes 1969). While Hughes is confining himself to library in a formal school context, this quotation may very well suit the whole library context. Library as a connection point between information and the user is all about learning. People seek information in order to satisfy a particular need and advance their learning accordingly. As a point where learning takes place, library needs to be central to the community, high on any government agenda and an instance where the community can place their confidence in quality staff and processes.
