Migrating to a Virtual Environment

The traditional method of deploying a new physical server generally takes weeks in many organizations. With VMware vSphere, you can deploy new virtual machines much more quickly in minutes from a template. For example, by creating an OS with all the patches and required updates and scripting SQL Server install, you can create a template that can be deployed over and over again, significantly reducing the time to provision SQL Server VMs.

When you create virtual machines, you can either use the VMware Converter tool or create fresh virtual machines leveraging vSphere’s templates and clones.
