Chapter 13. Online Editing and Color Grading

Until Recently, online editing and color grading were tasks that really didn’t happen on desktop workstations. Instead, if you wanted to finish your show, it was relegated to big post houses with expensive proprietary hardware systems that charged a lot to work on your project.

Today, finishing and color grading for final output is a reality on a Mac. What used to be a mythical task of “onlining” a show can now be done with tools in Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, or After Effects. In addition, with dedicated grading programs such as Apple Color, you can color grade projects to amazing results.

In this chapter we’ll explore the online editing process as well as color grading a show.
