Chapter 6. Multicamera Productions

The Ability to Edit a multicamera shoot is becoming increasingly important to video pros. As camera prices continue to fall, more and more pros are discovering that having multiple, synchronized angles truly makes editing easier. A multicamera shoot can save enormous amounts of time during postproduction—unless you shoot it wrong.

When it comes to multicamera editing, there is no “fix it in post.” If you don’t plan your coverage right, you’ll have nothing to cut away to. Screw up the technical details and Final Cut Pro might not be able to even edit the footage. Getting a multicamera edit to work is as much about preproduction and accuracy in the field as it is about what happens in post.
