Trim Mode

After making a rough assembly, you will probably need to do some fine-tuning. Up to this point we have looked only at Source/Record mode. In the centre of the Composer window, on Media Composer and Symphony, below the editing buttons are three other buttons; from left to right they are: Source/Record mode, Trim mode and Effect mode (Figure 6.1). Trim mode allows us to adjust the cut or transition between two clips in our sequence. The Trim mode button is also on the keyboard; it is the ‘Y’ key on a Media Composer or Symphony keyboard. On Xpress, it is the ‘[’ key. It is not on the standard Xpress Composer button set but is in the fast menu.
