Many graphics and titles are now generated electronically, but there are still regular situations where title cards, lists, maps, charts, tables, insert stills, etc., are set up in front of a camera in the studio for speed and convenience.
Graphics can be supported in several ways – on easels, caption stands, music stands, or attached to a scenic flat. They are usually mounted on thick black card. Typical sizes are 30 × 23 cm to 61 × 46 cm (12 × 9 in to 24 × 18 in).
Graphics are often just put into some available light and shot rather-casually. But perfectly good artwork can appear unsharp, distorted, shaded, tilted, with distracting light patches if it is not handled correctly.
