Helping Sound Treatment

For high-quality sound pick-up, the distance of the microphone from the subject is adjusted to suit the size of the shot – close sound for closeups, distant sound to match long shots and maintain sound perspective. Obvious enough, but often difficult to achieve.

Sound pickup techniques

Apart from worn personal microphones, the simplest type of mobile microphone mounting is the fishpole (fishing rod). Here the microphone is surrounded by a large cylindrical windshield (windjammer), and fixed at right angles to the far end of a light pole.
