Ready for Rehearsal

Here is a brief run-down of routine pre-rehearsal checks. Most will seem obvious… but that’s when you start to take things for granted!

Studio Camera check-out

•  PRELIMINARIES:

Camera switched on, warmed up and lined up?

•  CAMERA HEAD:

Are panning handles firmly attached and at a comfortable angle?

Unlock the tilt lock and check the camera-head balance. Is it nose or back heavy? Check and adjust tilt drag (vertical friction). Unlock and check pan drag (horizontal friction).

•  LENS

Remove the lens cap. (Switch lens electrical capping off.) Is the lens clean?

Check the f-stop number selected during the camera line-up with a chart under standard illumination.
