Videotaping and Editing

Using a camcorder, it is now feasible for a single person to shoot the entire production: the total picture coverage together with a complete soundtrack. But more usually, the camera operator is part of a small team; including a director who is responsible for organizing and selecting material, and someone who is handling the microphone and/or lights.

Methods of shooting

You can tackle an assignment in several ways:

•  Continuous recording – Here you shoot an event continuously as it happens, choosing the best viewpoints available. Because you are recording everything, there is bound to be unwanted material in the final tape, but this can later be edited out as necessary.
