Close Shots

As you take closer and closer shots of a subject, camerawork becomes increasingly critical. The technique you use to get these shots will affect the sort of problems you are likely to have.

Regular problems

•  We saw earlier, how a close wide-angle lens can appear to distort a subject as it exaggerates its depth and modeling. There is also the danger that the close camera’s shadow will fall onto the subject.

•  Use a narrow-angle lens further away, and these problems will disappear. Instead, you may find that you are now limited by the lens’s minimum focused distance (MFD).
