Preface

Over the past few decades, the number of transistors in processors has grown at an exponential rate. Every 18 months, the number of transistors on a chip roughly doubles and circuit design problems become more complex. There is a great need for improvement in physical design tools to handle the increased design sizes. Since digital is ruling the world of technology today, digital design is going to become an important field in the future. The limitation of manual designing methods has paved the way for CAD tools to handle the complex digital designs and VHDL is a design tool to dictate the future design methodology.
