When Carolyn Savin started her event design business she didn’t have a client, much less a portfolio. She had been making fabulously decorated cookies for years for gatherings of friends and family and was known around town as “the cookie mom.” But she realized what she really enjoyed was designing events. Carolyn had been designing her own themed parties for years and people loved them. To get her first clients in this area, and ultimately photos for her online presence, she offered her design service at no charge. She only charged for the materials needed to execute her cool ideas.
