Rendering and Output
Back in the “good ol’ days” of broadcasting, editors had to worry about two types of output and one resolution/frame rate: Beta SP for broadcast delivery and VHS replication, or DV for (sometimes) broadcast and VHS replication. Then DVD came along and added a few more challenges. But today we’ve got to deliver to broadcast, Blu-ray, DVD, intranet, Internet, mobile devices—and all at several different resolutions and a few different frame rates, and it can quickly become confusing.
