In this chapter, we turn to the linkage of the value-based cost management system (VCMS) to process management, one of the major innovations being used by organizations to eliminate waste and improve responsiveness to customer requests. Using an example from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, we trace how the VCMS data collection instrument can also be used to capture process information.
