1. Stand in the hallway and get a sense of how far it is to an exit. Count your steps to the exit, stop, and make a mental note whether the hallway makes a shape left or right to the exit.

2. Determine whether you can jump to safety from your floor.

3. Determine whether you can open the window in your room or smash it and find what you might use to smash it.
