JXtended Finder is a remarkable extension that allows you to search your site better and faster than any other option we’ve seen. Admittedly, it’s probably a bit of overkill for Helen’s pet site in its early stage, but it integrates nicely with other extensions and will be a great help once her website reaches a sizable state. JXtended Finder isn’t free so we won’t take you through every option, but we’ll give you the most important points.

Let’s go over the four main sections of Finder. You can see them in the submenu when you go to Components in the top menu and then Finder.

Indexed Content

If your content has been indexed (scanned and organized by JXtended Finder), you will see it listed here. If there are specific items you don’t want to show up in search results, you can unpublish them here.

JXtended Finder creates an index for your site content for increased speed. The regular Joomla search engine looks through every item each time. Creating the index can take a long time, depending on how much content you have, but it saves site visitors time (and server resources) when searching.
