Using ItemID to Create Internal Links
When linking internally, you never want to use SEF URLs. If you turn SEF URLs off, those links will stop working. You always want to use the raw, âuglyâ URL because Joomla will convert it to a nice SEF URL when the page loads.
Go to Menu Item Manager for one of the menus you have on your website. Look at the column to the far right called ItemID. This number will be substituted for <ItemID> in the following URL: http://www.<yoursite>.com/index.php?Itemid=<ItemID>.
Obviously, replace <yoursite> with your own and Joomla will do the rest for you.
