What Is the Universal Serial Bus?
The USB is a specification developed by PC and telecommunications industry members for attaching peripheral devices to the PC. The USB allows computer peripherals to be attached to the outside of the computer, thus eliminating the need to install cards into dedicated computer slots and reconfigure the system. The USB is designed to be plug-n-play—there are no dip switches or jumpers to configure.
