ABOUT THE AUTHOR

TODD L. PITTINSKY is associate professor of technology and society at SUNY Stony Brook. He was previously associate professor of public policy at the Harvard Kennedy School, where he served as research director for Harvard’s Center for Public Leadership. In 2001, he launched the Allophilia Project (www.allophilia.org) to understand and advance the positive attitudes people can have for groups other than their own; that is, attitudes that go beyond tolerance to proactive engagement, enthusiasm, support, and enjoyment.
