8. Check Compatibility and Update Third-Party Software
Every major OS X upgrade breaks some software. Most software makers are very attuned to Apple’s moves, and since Apple has provided advanced information about Mavericks to developers for several months, many upgrades should be ready once Apple releases Mavericks. I strongly recommend that you check out at least the software you rely on the most and check with that software’s developer for updates.
