Summary

In this chapter, we covered three powerful tools from Untangle that allow us to control user privileges on the network by identifying the user and giving them the appropriate level of access based on their membership details. Directory Connector allowed us to integrate Untangle NGFW with external RADIUS and Active Directory servers to collect user data. Captive Portal allowed us to prohibit any access to the Internet until the user authentication, which greatly helps in public Wi-Fi and guest network scenarios. Policy Manager allowed us to apply different policies and settings on different users based on their criteria such as username and group membership. Also, it allowed us to control these policies based on time.
