WHY SHOULD YOU CARE ABOUT UDA IN HEALTHCARE?

Untapped Potential of Healthcare Data Goldmine

Healthcare is one of the fastest growing industries, and it is undergoing dramatic changes. The convergence of advanced technology, Big Data, cloud computing services, and machine learning is creating affordable artificial intelligence (AI)–based expert insight. We see changes in how medical service is conceived and delivered and in how medical research is done. Patients also have greater access to critical healthcare information. Insurance companies and government can leverage advanced analytics to address waste and losses in medical bills and claims. Big Data analytics is the cornerstone of healthcare transformation; it will dramatically improve patients' experience and outcome.

According to some studies, healthcare data, which is found in claims, clinical work (labs test and interpretation), doctor's notes and narratives, patient prescriptions, patients' electronic medical records (EMRs) and electronic health records (EHRs), medical journal articles, research publications, and medical images, accounts for more than 30 percent of the Big Data we have today. Most of that data is still untapped, which sets the stage for unstructured data analytics (UDA) to become the next innovation in healthcare analytics.
