We have dissected the design process into its various components, but now we need to reassemble the pieces. This chapter illustrates the complete design process for a production of Steven Dietz’s adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. When I worked on this design, I overtly documented my thought process. As much as I was designing a play, I was also observing my thinking as the design developed.

This production was staged at Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble in 2010, with ensemble member Laurie McCants directing. This play is a faithful dramatization of the Bram Stoker novel, avoiding the campy, tongue-in-cheek attitude of many adaptations.
