3. How to Engineer Opportunities, Stage 1: DDP

Framing Your Challenges and Your Key Vulnerabilities

In this chapter, we start learning how to develop a Discovery-Driven Plan (DDP), which forms the platform of the Opportunity Engineering (OE) process. In the next chapter, we look at the CheckPointing process, which is stage two of the process.

The DDP stage of OE comprises two substages:

1. Framing and Operating Specification stage, which scopes out the investment and documents your major assumptions

2. Sensitivity Analysis stage, which identifies the most critical assumptions you have made

Again, we will present a real case, which we deliberately simplified for purposes of understandability.
