Career Evolution: Building Your Leadership Legacy

Your Leadership Legacy is not in the past; rather the idea is to live it now and in the future. Understanding what makes you happy and fulfilled is the first step to building your Leadership Legacy. Building the habit of asking the question “What does success look like for me?” is a way to ensure that all you do is taking you in the direction of living your Leadership Legacy. If one is struggling with a feeling of uneasiness, the process of journaling could help uncover the root cause of the tension. This chapter closes with examples of the Leadership Legacy associated with each of the case studies we have reviewed in the previous chapters. The goal for this chapter will be to review real-world examples of how those we met earlier have continued to grow into living their Leadership Legacy.

CASE STUDY

Meet Jeff, a successful executive in the publishing industry. He came to me after having a successful year but feeling very uneasy and unhappy. He talked about all the normal bothers in his life; he reported to the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Americas and could never have a meeting without the chief financial officer shouting about something.
