Matching domain names with IP numbers using nslookup

When accessing a computer on the Internet, you generally type in a domain name (such as http://www.raycomm.com), which is pretty easy to remember. To connect to another computer, though, your system must translate the domain name into an IP number (such as 204.228.141.12), which is the actual address of the computer you're connecting to.

As a rule, the translation from domain name to IP number proceeds without a problem. Heck, most of the time, you won't even notice that it happened.
