Summary

With live tiles, badges, toast notifications, and lock screen features, your apps can integrate nicely with Windows without any special capabilities required. All these mechanisms still keep the user in control. A user decides whether to pin the tile, what size it should be, and can “turn off” the live part of the tile at any time. A user can also disable toast notifications (completely or app-by-app) and notification sounds from within the PC Settings app. And a user can decide which apps, if any, get one of the coveted spots on the lock screen.
