Custom Bluetooth Smart Devices

Bluetooth Smart refers to the Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth LE) protocol, which is designed to use much less power than classic Bluetooth. This protocol is used by a wide range of portable devices, such as blood pressure monitors, blood glucose monitors, and heart rate monitors. Bluetooth Smart is not backward-compatible with Bluetooth, although there are some devices that implement both protocols.

Bluetooth devices conform to one or more profiles defined by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, and all current Bluetooth Smart profiles are based on what is called the Generic Attribute Profile (GATT). GATT defines how data is sent and received, which is in the form of small pieces of data known as attributes
